Anise Essential Oil
Anise (Pimpinella anisum) steam distilled seed, China. Spicy, warm, licorice-like aroma. Fishermen use it to mask human scent while fishing. Well known for its effect on the digestive system. May have a good effect on asthma and breathing difficulties. Anise has estrogenlike properties, it aids childbirth, increases milk secretion, and is antispasmodic for nerves and muscles. Anise is indicated for lack of menstruation, menopause, colitis, and poor breathing due to nerves. The grayish brown seeds were highly prized in Ancient Greece as a natural digestive aid.
2 drops sweet orange oil
2 drops petitgrain oil
Blends well with: fennel, petitgrain and rosewood.
Cautions: Use in moderation; large doses can be narcotic - do not use if pregnant - can cause dermatitis
Excellent for use in making candles, soap, lotions, bath products and potpourri. Use as part of a blend in a diffuser.
